Useless Light is an archive installation based on a useless machine: a machine whose only purpose is to turn itself off. The installation is suppose to mimic this effect but it does not actually turn off. The user is supposed to pull a chain on a lamp which triggers a video of a lamp being turned off and then goes to black so it looks like it is off. It is supposed to be funny because lamps are supposed to illuminate darkness but this lamp keeps going to black, seemingly unable to understand it's purpose. I made this by connecting a lamp to my computer with a makey makey which trigged the video and sent the output to my tv.
